Speak to our therapists
You might be wondering
What can I expect during my first therapy session?
Each therapist has a different way of conducting first
sessions. Do remember - Your first session is all about you and your therapist getting
to know each other. We’ll start with a friendly conversation where you can
share your reasons for seeking therapy. You’ll also have the chance to ask any
questions you might have. Our goal is to create a comfortable space where you
feel heard and supported.
We understand that it can be a little scary because
it’s a new experience. Feel free to always tell us how we can help make it
easier!
How long will each session last?
Each session typically lasts about 50 minutes, giving
us ample time to explore your thoughts and feelings while also leaving you with
time to reflect on what we’ve discussed.
How often should I attend sessions?
The frequency of your sessions depends on your
needs and goals. Some clients prefer weekly sessions to start (which is what we
usually recommend as well), while others find bi-weekly works best. We’ll work
together to find a schedule that suits you.
How do you handle confidentiality?
Your privacy is our priority. Everything you share
with us remains confidential, except in rare cases where we’re required by law
to protect your safety or the safety of others. We’ll discuss these exceptions
with you during your first session.
What happens if I miss a session?
We understand that life can be unpredictable. If
you need to reschedule, just let us know at least 24 hours in advance or the
soonest possible in the case of an emergency. We’ll do our best to find a
convenient time for you. If you miss a session without notice, we’ll still be
here, ready to support you whenever you’re able to return. However, you will be
charged for the session missed as we value the time and effort of our
therapists as well
Can you prescribe medication if needed?
While we don’t prescribe medication directly, we can
refer you to a trusted psychiatrist who can assess your needs and provide a
prescription if it’s appropriate for your situation.
