You might be wondering

What is your approach to therapy?

My approach to therapy finds its foundation in Narrative Practices. It is a strength based approach that focuses on identity building and the stories clients bring to the session. I create my therapeutic space from a trauma informed and intersectional lens, and hope to offer a space that is safe and wholesome for my clients.

How do you determine the goals for therapy?

Honestly, I don’t. Goal setting is something I encourage more from the clients side. They are the expert of their life and they know what they need and want best. My job is to support them modify or state it in a way that is more specific and actionable. Also I take a few sessions before bringing up goal setting as a conversation. It helps both the client and me to build a context before we address the direction we want to take.

Can I talk about anything in therapy?

Yes. you can talk about anything in therapy. Of course one does feel awkward and uncomfortable with some topics, or one feels that “Oh I might make the therapist uncomfortable”. It’s okay! I welcome it. If it is something that I’m having a tough time with - I’ll let you know!

What should I do if I feel uncomfortable during a session?

Tell me. Always tell me. We will immediately stop and check in with where you are. And if we have to talk about the weather after that, we well :)

How will I know if therapy is working?

This has no such fixed answer. It’ll boil down to what your goals and expectations of therapy are. While we will have regular check ins, If at any point you feel like things aren’t progressing - bring it up! We’ll sit down and talk about it.

Will you give me homework or things to work on between sessions?

Depends on the client, their lifestyle and what helps them process things best. If you don’t like doing a certain type of thing in therapy or outside of it, we won’t do it.
